Ana Lara, Outpatient Psychiatry Supervisor with Banyan Health, explains the symptoms of clinical depression are: desire to do anything, ideas of suicide, tiredness, sleepiness, and a general lack of desire to participate. An individual can be diagnosed with depression if they experience any of these symptoms for more than two weeks or more.

Dr. Moraima Trunkillo, Chief Medical Officer at Banyan Health, explained that depression can come from a family history or be a result of traumas suffered during childhood.
